Want to know more?

After the lignite phase-out, the Rhenish mining area is to become a model region for a bio-based circular economy.

This sustainable way of doing business requires a new way of knowing and thinking. The demands on workers and the education of young people are correspondingly diverse and interdisciplinary.

New career fields will emerge and existing jobs will change in their activities. We want to be well positioned for the future in the region. Remaining curious and wanting to learn new things are therefore very important in times of structural change.

The BioökonomieREVIER coordination office would like to capture education from the perspective of the bioeconomy. To this end, we develop educational offers for young people as well as for people who are already working.

Structural change in practice: students investigate algae

What exactly does bioeconomy mean? And what can it do for structural change in the Rhenish mining area? These and many other questions are currently being addressed in the first bioeconomy project course at the Forschungszentrum Jülich (Research Centre Jülich, FZJ).
