Bioeconomy research in the Rhenish mining area

One of the strengths of the Rhineland region is its excellent universities. The density of research institutions is outstanding and the institutes are already excellently positioned and interconnected in the various disciplines of the bioeconomy.
In order to realize a model region for the bioeconomy, it is important to further expand existing collaborations and to ensure a rapid transfer of ideas and approaches into industry. In this way, new jobs and real value creation for local people can be created through structural change.
The first germ cells for a rapid transfer of research ideas into economic application are 15 so-called "innovation labs", accompanied by the BioökonomieREVIER coordination office.
