Bio-based economy in the Rhenish region

The economy in the Rhenish mining region is characterized by a wide variety of sectors. Focal points can be found, for example, in the areas of food, paper, chemicals and plastics, as well as in the textile industry. In the food sector in particular, there is already a bio-based economy, founded on a regionally strong agricultural sector of the Rhenish mining region. The goal is to build on these strengths and establish further, sustainable bio-based value chains. Above all, this means linking a wide variety of companies with each other in a new way, away from their traditional networks.

The coordination office BioökonomieREVIER provides support in this regard. It offers suitable networking formats, identifies the needs and challenges and develops solutions and technologies based on promising research ideas. Fourteen so-called "innovation labs", which are managed by the coordination office, are among the lighthouse projects to accelerate the innovation transfer from science to practice.

Bioeconomy is an opportunity for companies of all types: large industrial players but also small and medium-sized companies. Would you like to know how a bioeconomy project can be successfully implemented in your company? Feel free to contact us!
